Immobilisation of the head in radiotherapy

Abstract

Immobilisation of the patient during radiotherapy can be achieved with the aid of such elaborate equipment as, for example, a thermoplastic moulding machine (Dickens, 1960). The present note describes a simple but effective head fixation system utilising electromagnets and developed at this centre for use with a 60Co unit.
