Treatment of Cancer of the Cervix Uteri—A Revised “Manchester Method”
Abstract
The so-called “Manchester” system for the treatment of carcinoma of the uterine cervix, published some 13 years ago, is reviewed, and modifications in the loading of the applicators are suggested to make the dose rate at Point A as constant as possible. An “Ideal” system is outlined with sufficiently detailed specifications to enable any department to adapt their radium to it. Examples of the use of British standard radium and 60Co in this revised “Manchester” system are given.
